Awareness Design

Creating digital experiences that promote awareness involves minimizing distractions and encouraging users to focus on the present moment. This begins with a clean, intuitive interface.

Clear Visual Hierarchy

The app's layout should prioritize essential information, such as ride details and estimated arrival times, using clear visual cues. This minimizes cognitive load, allowing users to stay present rather than struggling to find information. Consider the principles of Gestalt psychology, ensuring elements are grouped logically and consistently. A user should instantly understand the state of their request.

Conscious Spaces

A conscious digital space allows users to feel in control and avoid feeling overwhelmed. Providing options and clear feedback mechanisms are crucial.

Strengths
  • Straightforward booking process
  • Real-time tracking
  • Payment options clearly presented
Areas for Improvement
  • Potentially overwhelming map display
  • Excessive notifications can detract from awareness

Mindful Features

Integrating features that encourage mindful interaction enhances the user experience. This includes options for personalization and control over notifications.

Customizable Notifications

Allowing users to control the frequency and type of notifications helps prevent distraction and promotes a sense of agency.

Ride History and Summaries

Providing clear and concise ride history summaries empowers users to track their spending and travel habits consciously.

Present Moments

Focusing on the present moment means delivering relevant information precisely when it's needed. Avoid overwhelming the user with unnecessary details.

Real-Time Updates

Live tracking of the taxi's location fosters a sense of connection and reduces anxiety, allowing users to focus on their current activity rather than worrying about arrival times. Reduce screen clutter as much as possible during this phase.

Thoughtful Paths

Guiding users through a seamless and intuitive path contributes to a more mindful experience. Clear instructions and helpful prompts are essential.

Feature Description Mindful Value
Address autofill Predictive address entry Reduces input errors, promotes smooth experience

Have had bad app interface experiences, crashing etc. Drivers cancel on me because I'm "too far". I live in a populous area of central Brooklyn & tried to get a ride on a Saturday. One of the best things about yellow/green cabs is that they can't refuse any destination but here they can refuse pickup? This is good for contactless pay for cabs you've already hailed and sometimes airport trips. But nothing else. The prices are better than other apps most of the time but nobody will come to you.

Better pricing? Definitely. Reliability? Awful. The app will give you an estimate on how far your cab is that is not at all within the time frame your cab is showing up. 3 minutes away can actually be over 10. And unlike the other ride share apps it also doesn't show you the proximity of your cab to you. Often the cab will just cancel for no reason; you'll end up having to request a ride a few times before you actually get one.

The app is fine, issues are all with the dispatching service. I've used it in Boston, Orlando, a few other major cities. Works fine for pair and pay but if you're trying to call a taxi (like lyft / uber), it's awful. It pairs me with a driver, and within a minute it goes away and says that there is no ride. This happens 3 or 4 times in a row. This time, two drivers showed up, one from the earlier attempts that dropped. Driver says sometimes the ride just disappears off their device.
