Overall it works decently well. A few annoyances, but mainly that if you click the accept button in the notification panel and it doesn't detect a Wi-Fi/cellular signal (even though it's always there) it pops up the app with a failure notification, but accepting the failure notification CLOSES THE APP. When trying to accept a login attempt against a timer this is majorly annoying and serves absolutely no purpose to have it close after that... it does this frequently.
This app has been awful as an IT admin. Enrollments very often don't work for no apparent reason, and refuse to give any meaningful error data. Users softlock themselves if the enrollment process gets interrupted at any point, and then their partial setup has to be completely reset from our end before they can try again. We've been getting countless calls about the setup just failing or refusing to proceed for no reason. Once set up, the app occasionally fails to send push notifications.
Very annoying app. The worst part is that the push notifications just don't work. I have to manually open the app to see the request and approve it. Then, a few minutes later, the push for the original request will finally show up in my notifications, by which point it's useless and I don't need it anymore. Also, I emailed the support email for the app store to mention my issue and all they said to me was that the email support was for paying DUO users. Why put that email for the free app?!
Fails to send push notifications the vast majority of the time. When it does, they frequently disappear after clicking "approve" without actually approving the login. Also, there's zero reason to require two button presses to approve a login. It seems like a minor detail, but when you have to use this every single day, the pointless redundancy becomes incredibly frustrating. The user experience with this app is horrendous.
Been using it regularly over the past couple years for my school's login, it's been working well enough. On the authorization notification I've become very used to the "Accept" button being on the left and "Deny" on the right. In a recent update, some dingus decided to swap the "Accept" and "Deny" buttons, so my muscle memory has me consistently deny my sign in attempts. It's getting frustrating.
When it works, it works, but grudgingly. If you aren't running the most recent Android version, perhaps you have a slightly older phone, it will "remind" you to update, even if your phone is no longer getting android updates. Yes, thanks for reminding me I'm poor, duo. If you're not getting push notifications, you may need to disable battery optimizing for the app, or else android will stop the app from running in the background.
would give 0 stars if i could. I've had to use this app for years at school, and it has never worked for a period longer than a week. The web browser support is awful, it is impossible to reach customer service. The app regularly decides that the settings on my phone or computer are wrong and it will not work, even when I haven't changed the settings ever and it worked just fine. Literal garbage. Cannot wait to be done using it.
I've been extremely frustrated with the app for a few weeks now and finally got the point where I'm so sick of it I wanted to leave a review. Judging by the other top reviews here, I'm not the only one. I *still* keep accidentally denying my logins because they moved the 'Deny' button where the 'OK' button goes for pretty much every other app. There are other issues like notifications not showing up, but nothing is more frustrating to me when I'm still tired in the morning and deny my own login because this app swapped the buttons around.
I had no trouble with the app until the last update. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling, I cannot use the app. Nothing is "clickable." When I get notifications, I cannot accept them since nothing on the duo screen is functioning. Very frustrating, and I cannot figure out how to get support as this issue isn't listed anywhere in common issues.
CONSTANT nagging about syncing with Google and about notifications turned off. It otherwise does what it should do. Having to dismiss the Google prompt EVERY TIME I open the app is frustrating. The nagging for the notifications CAN'T be turned off. Obviously this is the most important app on your phone, why won't you just let us send notifications?? Hopefully, my company will soon move to something else.
It is terrible to work with, and would not let me reconnect any of my old accounts when I got a new phone. I tried reinstalling the app 6 times and it didn't work. I really wish that my school didn't require duo because now I'm locked out of my account and no website or "help desk" is helpful at all. Overall it was a terrible experience with this app and I hate it very much. Don't get it if you can help it, and if you need it, good luck.
Ditch the animated splash screen. Sure, it only takes a second to load, but when you have to use this app to unlock to your work computer, that one second is super annoying. If I just received a push notification to approve a login, why do I need to wait for you to tell me that I'm opening the Duo app? It was on the push. It's on the login page. Don't make the process longer than it needs to be.
I use this app dozens of times a day, and have done so for a long time. Swapping the approve and deny buttons has resulted in significant disruption to my day. Muscle memory, then having to select that no, this was not suspicious, it was just me selecting the option where approve has been for the last years. Then i have to force another push. It brings my productivity to a halt, disrupts whatever train of thought I was on or chasing. It's frustrating.
This new update has been a step backwards. Up until now the app has been fine. Now I'm unable to Select/Change the pictures for the services. And don't get me started on switching the deny/approve buttons. I'm not usually one to jump on the "it looks different so I hate it" bandwagon that usually happens with updates but this really has been a major drop in both function and ease of use.
I deleted this app after thinking I didn't need it. I tried getting into my college account and it asks for the DUO push. I re-install the app, but it can't find any of my accounts that are supposed to be backed up. You can't open a new account without a barcode or pin number. And they give you no other options to get into your account. I tried using a password to get in but every single password I have tried doesn't work and they give you no option for forgotten passwords. Terrible app!!
This app does much more than being useless. Useless is something just sit there and does nothing, but this app does something - it makes logging in even worse. The adding account part is a nightmare. The bar code scanning doesn't work properly for a whole day. Moreover, whenever the app stops working properly, I lost access to ALL the school's online service. I can't access any of my course materials the whole morning thanks to this spectacular piece of rubbish. I wonder why this buggy app can still survive. Thank you so much for wasting my time and making my day miserable. EDIT: Found a way to bypass this and use the computer-only mode. APP UNINSTALLED.
I've been using this app for years, and after the recent update they decided to swap the allow/deny buttons for login pushes. Now every login is a fight against years of muscle memory, followed by an equally annoying "was this a suspicious login?" No, you just changed a fundamental part of your app for no reason. In addition, it also seems much slower to open and slower to respond and I prefer the old look.
It limits access to the use of a phone no matter what device you have! In my cases, the passcode wasn't accepted either. My institution requires it's use. I have to keep the app on my devices even to have verifications to function properly. But when I am without a phone signal to receive the verification call the delays continue. Moreover, if the phone doesn't function properly with the app. there needs to be another option besides the code. The time wasted is frustrating.
Apparently my device needs to be activated again? maybe it could actually say that somewhere instead of just locking me out due to too many attempted pushes. Pushes which, of course, go absolutely nowhere. Thank the Lord that it's connected to my phone number. Except that it ISN'T; it's connected to the app which for some reason uses your phone number to identify your device but doesn't sms you if you or someone else is trying to get access unsuccessfully. how about a lock out warning first?
The app works fine but I can't get a feature fix that used to work. you used to be able to click approve from the notification that popped up when you signed in. now it gives an error message that you do not have. a mobile or Wi-Fi connection. when you open up the app, you can approve. please fix this bug so that you can approve a login from the notification that pops up instead of having to go into the app.
