It's mostly just a toy for me, but I also like that it can be used for navigation when no Internet data services are available either with a paper map, or if you set a waypoint at a known location before starting out, you can find your way back.certainly no survivalist should be without. I have also used it in air flight (shh) to keep track of altitude and speed as well as guestimating how far into the flight I am when there is no on screen flight map
Used it for almost 15 years now. It is an excellent tool to find out your location and track phone's attempts to lock on and gives much additional information. Pretty useful even in flight mode when you are in plane and want to track your location (just keep it close to window). Only thing I would like to know is a bit deeper explanation of the icons and colors - what they represent. An instruction or legend would be great.
Provides an incredible amount of detailed information in an easy to read format, with a lot of extra utility beyond just knowing exactly where you are: It's also a great way to make sure your compass is calibrated right and your device's motion sensors and GPS receiver are functioning correctly. The night mode display theme uses red, which is great for preserving your low light vision. And the ad-free version (with extra features that I haven't even tried yet) is super cheap. Very worthwhile!
I've been using this app reliably since 2014 on a multitude of different devices, it's simply the best app ever to keep your phone's GPS running and calibrated. With this app, i know my GPS is accurate and ready to use when immediately. Yes, it occasionally adds to your overall battery consumption, but the little bit it adds is miniscule compared to the speed and value it delivers!
Simple but does the job. It's nice to get updates to GPS data tables to speed up location, and also being notified what the GPS is doing. It also shows some device information, as well as temperature, etc. You can calibrate the device easily, and also get the angles of the device (pitch, yaw, roll... or whatever the aeronautical terminology is).
Have been using this simple app for hiking since 2013. The radar tab is very useful in giving a rough sense of direction of my hike as well as it let's me know the current accuracy of the GPS to determine my location in a place. The only downside is that I can't change the scale of the radar. It can be confusing as I approach the last few hundred metre of my destination.
I get a message stating the pro licence has been deactivated on install. I used to have a legacy key, there was a separate download on the play store for it. I'm not sure if the fix listed in latest updates is referring to my issue but the method of activating pro is no longer available. I've emailed twice now with proof of purchase yet no reply. Still a good app but let down with customer support. Just be aware before buying if you value support from the Devs. Still the best app in it's class.
With this app you can see how your phon knows where it is. Often, by seeing where the satellites are in the sky, you can move to get a better view, closing down the uncertainty. Also shows the actual data from the motion and gyro sensors, so it even works as a level...
It's a great tool. Has everything you need and nothing you don't. Allows you set and change the most important GPS reciever settings. This app can use the GPS sensor only, without A-GPS (assisted GPS by cell towers for a faster fix). Not many NAV apps let choose between A-GPS and pure GPS. Before you head into the wilderness you can download the newest A-GPS data for a faster satellite fix later when you need it. You can also pre save waypoints. Love the simple NAV rose.
I have used this app for years on an older device, but it is now getting buggy and needed to reinstall it, but wont let me because i have Android 4.0.3 and it wont run on the older hardware anymore! This developer seems to have a history of breaking a perfectly good app with updates you don't need! Don't waste ANY money buying anything from them! A while ago i would have given them a great review but i just CAN'T anymore, sorry to say!
Works fine for my needs. Downloading the gps constellation data is a massive time saver when trying to grab signals indoors. Any gps speedbumps have more to do with how my stock S5 handles the gps radio and data. I wouldnt put too much faith in the angle indicators, but again that has more to do with the hardware platform than the app. Does what it says on the tin.
An excellent tool for saving and finding discrete locations. I have used it to save a quick lat/long or save a list of coordinates to put on a map. I have also used lat/long from an existing map to find a lost feature on the ground with it. A nice bonus is that I occasionally need barometric pressure to calibrate a water quality meter which this app provides.
Had purchased the non spying version and waa enjoying it until the new forced spying/advertising (which shares your advertising id with others) basically os forcing me to accept or not use an app i have trusted for years. This is the evil that other tech companies use and you cant opt out. Forced telemetry on top of forced advertising. Why did it auto uninstall my pro key? You have to purchase the new key in the data collecting version, wheres the assurance no telemetry if you buy it again?
Using the AGPS reset function fixed my GPS issues on S8+ that started recently that were not fixed by firmware update or restarts or anything else I tried... which was a lot of things. So, Thank you! I would suggest making this option easier to find because the first time I downloaded this app I didnt actually find that option and just uninstalled it.
I've had this installed on every phone I've used in as long as I can remember, I paid for the Pro version long ago to get rid of the ads. Just got a brand new Pixel 8 Pro and can't remove the ads without paying again through an in-app purchase. Oh well.
App is great, simple and has a heap of GPS detail, have been using it for years. As a note (partly for future me) install the legacy key first if you bought that version, run it and then install the actual application, installing the app first didn't activate the license for me.
This spp is AWESOMENESS!!! I was able to use it in several situations lately. The GPS in my cell wasn't working right so it was throwing off LYFT, UBER, anything that uses the GPS built into ur cell. Ttl nightmare. Used this app to help resolve with carrier tech support that it was in fact my cell & btw a manufactory issue. The other issue was home improvement proj. Needed a level ASAP but it was on another floor, i grabbed my phone. DONE in no time.
I've used the basic Status for several years and I'm basically happy with it. But it would help to know what the reference point is for coordinates and I haven't found any way to ask. Also the elevation feature is inaccurate, at least near sea level. Right on the beach it reads about minus 90 m.
Great app, fast, useful data. But recently (since Android 9?) the app has started up in the background for no apparent reason. The only clue to this was the locations indicator appearing in the notifications bar. Why is this? A forced stop sorts it for a while but eventually it recurs.
Love this app (Pro version). I use it for kayak touring. It's smooth, reliable and clear. If i was to suggest any additional feature it would be the ability to sequence waypoints automatically, so that as soon as a WP was reached (within a preset radius), the next WP was targeted. Great job.
