worst printer ever. I typically print from both my Samsung phone and my HP laptop, and I have the worst time printing from my phone. The printer takes up to 1 hour to print anything from my phone. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps, uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared the cache, and nothing works. I have every plug-in app as well, without resolution. Tech support doesn't help because they can't chat with you while also using the app. Tell me how that makes sense. Going in 🗑️.

Enshitification enters overdrive as this app moves from "mildly annoying but functional" to "a dumpster fire". It cannot connect to any printers despite being on the same network. The printer itself is no better as it frequently loses connection in the middle of scanning to the app or network. Nothing else on the network experiences issues and the printer has line-of-sight to the wireless access point. I'm done with HP and done with their printers. Never again.

BAD APP, it won't even open and I've uninstalled it 3 times already. NOTHING. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HPs printers anymore, they used to be so much better ten years ago. They are getting worse to setup and connect and keep connected & reconnect to the internet. And the ink runs out too fast, then it starts streaking and stops printing even though the you've replaced the darn ink. But yes, this new app won't even open, at least the hp smart app would open up, geez! And this is happening when I need!

update: yet again another problem with the app and the freaking printer. Had to pay for the printer and pay for the insta ink and the thing only work when it wants to. They will gladly take you money though... this app is useless. I've been trying for almost a week to print 2 pages and the damn thing can't do it. keeps telling me that it's printing and that it "finished" but nothing comes out of the printer.

Seems to make it purposely difficult to find the number of Instant Ink pages which are remaining on your plan. They seem to want you to inadvertantly go over and get charged more. When you try to look at almost anything in the app it kicks you out to your web browser to sign in and look on their website, which makes you question why they even have an app 🤷🏻

My Hp laserjet constantly stops working. I get "not connected " every time i go to print, yet you can read my computer just fine for billing. It is connected and I want to be able to use it. I have called tech support too many times. Never HP printer again! Unable to print also applies to my computer. Same rating although 0 star is better.

hp smart used to be a good app. you can't connect new mobile devices. I've only owned HP printers for probably 25 years and I am not going to use them anymore unless they can fix their app so that my mobile devices can use it. my tablet will still connect to the printer but you better be really close by because you only have 30 seconds to push the keypad button that pops up. so no more printing away from the house or from the other room in the house. this is the worst app for printing.

I just got this new HP Envy 6555e printer, and connecting it to my laptop and tablet was super easy. But connecting it to my phone? Forget about it. It wouldn't even pick up the signal. I spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling stuff, and finally got it to work, but man, it’s definitely not user-friendly. Also, I really miss the old HP interface that showed all the features in nice blocks. The new scrolling design is just frustrating. Whoever made those changes really dropped the ball!

This is the worst printer app combo I've ever owned. At six months I was promised I would get a delivery of ink that never showed up. If you don't buy your ink through their service they lock up your printer so you can't use it. I've tried calling and going through all the available options on the app and there's has been zero ways to resolve their issues offered to me.

Although it's quite helpful, the app is incredibly slow and sluggish. It takes forever to load. Then, if you want info on your Instant Ink account and how many of your contracted pages you've used, it opens a web site that takes even longer to open and then demands you sign in, even though it knew who you were in the initial app. Then it takes even more time to get what you spent all this time seeking. There is no alternative with HP printers. It's very slow no matter what device you use.

Reliability is bad. I had to print a few dozen photos for my child's birthday, and for a week and a half I have to wait because of a connection issue with a cartridge. the new cartridge arrives and it's the same issue. I unsubscribe with their monthly plan, and it magically works. Their troubleshooting guide was a loop of trouble shooting tips and then a link to order new cartridge, to then be asked to try the troubleshooting again.

App no longer works! Why did you feel the need to break something that worked fine? I can no longer print at all with this app, if the app even works, it sees my printer, but that's it, if on the off chance it actually works, it will only print black and white, not color! like I said, everything worked fine until this app update! I'm about to go with another brand after many years of using HP

Garbage fire service and garbage fire printers. Not only does the app not properly track your ink levels but when you try to print anything at all it forces you to go through a SERVER that then sends it to your printer. If that server is down, good luck printing! The app constantly disconnects from printers and customer support is worthless! I have been fighting my printer for 3 years and today I smashed it on the ground after 5 errors. Do not use HP printers. Get a refund.

This printer/scanner worked just fine up until last year when HP decided to join the crAPP bandwagon. It is f_king impossible to scan anything anymore. Your app is NOT smart, it is a pain in the A$$ to deal with. It is easier to just take photos and email those. It is easier and less time consuming to fold the documents, stuff them in an envelope, write out the addresses, and go stand in line at the post office.

Absolute garbage. It's spyware that can't even be bothered work properly. Want to add a printer? Good luck with the "we pretended to search" with no options. If you manage to finally get it added, get ready for completely unhelpful error messages when trying to do anything. HP printers and their software are dead - victims of the enshittification of everything.

Printer is slow. Never stays connected to the internet. Have power it off and back on in order to get it to connect. Then it takes forever to register in the app that it's connected. Something that should take a minute or two, will literally take me 20 minutes. And then there's the Hp Ink program. If for some reason your payment doesn't go through, you are unable to use the item that you purchased to begin with.

Most of the time, the app doesn't register that my printer is connected or available. Only fix is to unplug and reboot. Also, I don't care for the fact that you are "recommended" to buy ink & paper thru Instant Ink and are charged a monthly fee for printing, even with products that are bought elsewhere. They are ultimately charging you for 2 services, which is ridiculous since I paid for the printer. That should be enough. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Until recently, I had seamless printing with no problems whatsoever for many years. Today I went to print off my smart phone and it no longer works; doesn't recognize my phone, can't add my same HP printer, blah, blah, blah. I added this app, thinking it would help, but I still get the same error messages. I've worked on it iver an hour. What a mess! Now I'll have to print everything off my desktop. Thanks for nothing, HP. Your "upgrade" is the pits, in my opinion.

FIX YOUR APP, HP! Been using the app for several years successfully. In the last week I can't do anything. Even trying to sign into my account I just get a spinning circle. Tried to get help on their website, system kept saying wasn't a valid serial #, even though it's the one the printer gave me. So, couldn't get any help and can no longer use my printer! Tried numerous ways to reconnect to it without success.

Terrible update!!! Use to be able to make lots of adjustments, and see how the size would look on the paper size. Also when selecting a photo, we are limited on which photos from our gallery, we can use. I'm looking for a new photo printer and have been HP loyal for many years. This update will have me looking at other brands. Very disappointed.
