I love this little printer, but the app could use some work. The paper is reasonably priced, and I can take pictures at work and hang them up right away. I like that it has borders. I just wish that I could edit them. The New Year boarders still have 2024, and it is almost 2026. Most of the borders are really cute, but I don't want the words. I wish I could edit the boarders.
The app wants a ridiculous amount of permissions. Its completely unusable unless you grant it full access to your entire photo library, precise location, and full Bluetooth scanning. HP doesn't need to know where I am at all times just to print a small photo! That's if you can even get the app to work. The app requiring full access to your photo library means it wants to load every photo before it allows you to select any to be printed. It can't load all my photos without crashing. Its unusable
When it works, it is great, though colors come out less vibrant. But all too often it seems to have a system error and the connection is lost. I have to leave it for a long time (multiple days) before using again. Edit: followed all steps suggested by customer service and repeated the actions over the past few days. I am able to connect the printer to my phone and app, but it continues to report a system error occurred and pauses every attempt to print, even with the blue sheet.
if I could rate lower, I would. app crashes upon opening. It is absolutely unusable, it won't load photos it won't do anything. Tried all the ways to troubleshoot. Nothing works. hoping they fix these issues. I feel like the money spent on the printer was a waste, seeing as I can't print anything.
Slow and a little confusing. so far I am not having a great time using this app. I can't figure out how to delete photos in the print queue, so I've wasted several photo papers. and those are expensive! also couldn't figure out how to make a collage for a while. just not very intuitive. also can't seem to keep the printer connected. every time I try to use the printer, I have to unpair the Bluetooth and try again. several times.
extremely frustrating. sometimes it picks up pictures from photos, sometimes it doesn't. there are times that I have put in a brand new cartridge and I can print a total of five pictures. I have thousands of photo paper, because they send two cartridges that will print about a third of what they send you for paper. And you can't buy cartridges individually. beyond disappointed with this product.
For some reason the app does not show all of my photos. I cannot access Google Photos on my Android phone. The printer app is only giving me access to Facebook. I don't have Facebook photos. I installed an update that was available. I did not see any improvement. In fact, I'm more frustrated with the fact that the prints are worse than the original photo even with making adjustments. The print had a line down the middle so I recalibrated the paper. I saw no improvement.
So disappointed with the use of my Sprocket after update. I've been using this product for over 5 years for extensive Journaling. Now I can't print anything in the correct orientation. All photos come out in Landscape mode. I've reset EVERYTHING. Installed and reinstalled. Went through other apps that may be overriding it. I can't use it. I'm super annoyed....
Frustratingly slow, I can't select any buttons on the app screen and it loads for at least 10 minutes before printing a single, low quality image. I have to repeatedly close and reopen the app to get anything to load, and when it does print, the colors come out too dark. Edit: now the app won't work at all, as it never finishes loading, rendering my printer unusable. I wish I could get my money back.
I've been using my HP Sprocket 200 for almost 6 years and it was the best...until recently when all of my photos started printing in landscape mode. Like everyone else that's been having this same issue, I tried every step to reset the printer and app and nothing was fixed. It's very upsetting that so many of us are continuing to experience this and there's been no improvements made on HP's end. I don't want to get another printer, but if HP doesn't react, I may have to go somewhere else.

Could be better. Bluetooth connection is shoddy and sheet cross your fingers that it connects to your printer. I love the HP Sprocket products and literally own every single one but the connectivity should be improved and the bugs in the app as well. Add more stickers and frames too. Overall it does it's job when it wants to and should be updated regularly.
Impossible to connect. Tried with two different phones — no success. Downloads, reboots, reinstalling the app, changing passwords, Bluetooth resets, account changes — everything you can think of with typical 21st-century tech troubleshooting. The result is the same: it just doesn’t work. A huge waste of time, with the hope that this device would make life easier. Unfortunately, it didn’t. So far it has only caused more stress, frustration, and wasted nerves.
Had I known how bad the app was I wouldn't have bothered buying the printer. I've had issues with the printers too, but my main issue with the app is that it either works or it doesn't.No way to know what kind of day it'll be. Sometimes it gets stuck on one printer, even though that one is turned off, and will not let me connect to my other printer. The "manage printers" tab is just useless, you basically have to have 1 phone per printer/app to get anything done.
Everything was great until the last update. Now my photos print in the wrong orientation. I messaged HP and never received a response. Edited to add 1/8/26: The orientation issue has been resolved, however, the manage printer page doesn't work now. It won't open my printer to check the battery level or change the printer name or light color.
love the printer, but the app keeps storing old print requests, so when I turn it on, it prints another copy of my last photo before I can stop it. it's like the queue doesn't empty after a print, even if I manually delete it from the queue. it wastes a lot of photo paper, which isn't cheap. very frustrating!
when I initially got the sprocket 5 years ago, I gave it 5 stars. now it's been a while and I can confidently say that it was a waste of money. while the printer itself is pretty good, the app is garbage and has been giving me issues for years. I dread using my printer because I don't want to use the app. constantly glitching out and stops working, prints multiple copies even if it's only supposed to make one, freezes up, among so many other issues.
I have a HP Sprocket Studio Plus printer and it's brand new! I was only able to print 10 pictures then I got a "carbon error" message. I have done everything they said to do and I still get the same message. There is nothing wrong with the cartridge that I can see! (I had a new one previous, bought thru Amazon & it did the same thing so I sent it back) can someone help please! Thank you
While the app is pretty intuitive, there's still some parts that I would like to see improved. Rotating pictures are simple, but there's no guides or suggested rotations, so if I want to rotate a picture 90°, it takes way longer than necessary to get it right because my hands aren't stable enough to get it aligned properly. When I make a collage, the pictures aren't split evenly, the top half picture is smaller/thinner than the bottom half.
Easy to set up. Standard print works but the collage feature does not. I have reinstalled the software multiple times, restarted phone, etc. After choosing 4 images and collage setting, then print - the app brings me back to photo gallery and tells me the app has stopped. This only happens when trying to print collage mode. Cannot find a fix or any type of customer service.
I got this with the intention of sharing the augmented reality images with family, but at this time I would only be able to view the AR images on my phone. Even then, it sometimes plays and sometimes doesn't. If I move the file from original location, it becomes just a printed image. Quality is fine most of the time, sometimes it doesn't print the way it looks on the phone. Ideally I would have liked to make a card with an AR image, send to family, who can then play the image on their phone.
