Pattern Elements

The app's pattern lies in its structured approach to device management. User enrollment, compliance checks, and app deployment follow a predictable sequence, creating a consistent experience. This predictability is essential for minimizing user confusion and maximizing efficiency. The rhythmic element stems from the periodic compliance checks that keep devices in sync with security policies.

Flow Features

The flow of information within the app is dictated by its role as a central hub for accessing corporate resources. Accessing apps, checking device compliance, and updating settings is mostly seamless. However, the flow can be disrupted by complex enrollment procedures or frequent authentication requests.

Tempo Aspects

The tempo of user interaction is dictated by the speed of compliance checks and app installations. Ideally, these processes should be swift and unobtrusive. Slow compliance checks or lengthy installation times can introduce friction. The perceived tempo is directly linked to the efficiency of backend services and network connectivity.

Beat Points

Key "beat points" are the moments when users interact with the app to perform specific tasks. These include enrolling a device, accessing a work application, or resolving a compliance issue. Each of these interactions should be streamlined and intuitive to maintain a positive user experience. Each beat should resolve into a satisfying completion of task.

Rhythm Moments

Rhythm is established through consistent feedback and predictable intervals. Regular, informative notifications about device compliance status or available app updates contribute to a sense of rhythm.

A lack of clear feedback or inconsistent update schedules can disrupt this rhythm.

Description

The Company Portal app is a tool that provides access to corporate apps and resources from almost any network. However, before using this app, your company must already subscribe to Microsoft Intune, and your IT admin must set up your account. The app allows you to enroll to access corporate resources, browse and install company apps, view and manage all your enrolled devices, view IT department contact information, change your work account password, and unenroll or remotely wipe devices. It is important to note that this app requires you to use your work account to enroll in Intune, and some functionality may be unavailable in certain countries. If you have any issues or questions about the app, including your company's privacy policy, contact your IT administrator and not Microsoft, your network operator, or your device manufacturer. To uninstall the Company Portal app, you need to unenroll your device from Intune first. You can follow the steps provided in the link to unenroll your device. Once you have unenrolled your device, you can uninstall the app like any other app.

Be aware! I had for 5 months and durring that time incoming calls often went to voice-mail after one ring. Then four days ago I was expecting a call and the same happened and it went to voice-mail. I had full bars of service and wifi at the time. I tried to call back the number and got REJECTED by Intune. "Can't call from a personal app. Your organization only allows you to make calls from work apps. Install a work phone app." I even tried 911 and got the same error message. Security risk!!

Like others have complained, there is a tremendous battery drain with this app. I used it without a problem for a year, then suddenly my phone started dying in the middle of the day. Company Portal accounts for 60-70% of battery usage. I opened a ticket with my IT department, and they were completely unhelpful, telling me that they don't care about issues with personal devices and that this was a Microsoft problem. Yes, without the app, I cannot access Outlook or Teams which I need at work.

Nope. Functionally, it works as Microsoft intended. HOWEVER this is the most intrusive, over permissioned apps I've installed. It's capable of turning on permissions, even if you've turned them off. It "peeks" at everything including network traffic not associated with you "work profile" apps. It seems to be sending the statistical and analytical data to Microsoft or either someone else.
