Love it. Feels like proper old school software. Except.. you can't view it in Chrome. Chrome won't allow audio without https and when the page prompts the switch the address doesn't go to https and so it can't be used at all. Reply Edit: I am not getting that prompt. Only a red text error after it times out, "Cannot get camera status! Some of the functionality might not work because of "error".". Nope.. think I figured it out. The password prompt is not coming up.
This is a really cool app, but on both my Samsung A25, and my Onn. Tablet gen 4, when you change resolution or anything, the video goes weird, and all you see is lines and a bit of the actual image, and it's gotten worse, as you used to just be able to change it back to the old resolution, but, now it always does this, and he only way to fix it is to restart the app on the host device
Quick, simple, easy. Does what it says on the tin. Can easily just hit start and go, or spend a few minutes going over the settings to really customize the feed. My only gripe is the seeming lack of feed types and accessibility of those feeds, as my smart TV is picky about what feed its asked to open. Then again this app has such a wide breadth of options i could just be missing it. Either way, its worth the look if you're in the market for a quick ip camera solution.
Amazing app, installed it on my old Samsung S10 running Lineage OS and it is stable AF. I'm using it as a 3D printer minder, hooked up to Mainsail, a breeze. An old phone which you've already got will be way better than that £20 webcam. You probably won't need Pro (most of the features are already free, and ads are not excessive), but it's a good way to show your support if you can afford it and ensure people keep making good apps.
Make sure the i.p. address is assigned at local router, the .1 of your network. My xfinity cable box changes it at random. Great app, though, very nice UI and the camera interface editing video that's linked in the app is a great demo, some nice concepts implemented there also.
Best app ever for RTSP streaming! Just a bit concerned about privacy, but everything is awesome! Motion detection areas, HTTP basic auth. I wish I could make it send a webhook or something whenever it detects motion though.
I installed on a Nokia 5.4, Android 12 but it reported "IP webcam: unable to access camera" when server started. camera app on phone works, checked app permissions. I was able to use it on a Fairphone 5, Android 15, looks good but useless to me because I need it on the Nokia 5.4
After 28th Oct 2025 update lots of things broke down that worked fine for years. I managed to fix it up now. But I'd appreciate a heads up. The app says preferred IPv4 vs IPv6 but even when setting IPv4, it ends up using both IPv4 + IPv6 with IPv6 being exposed to the raw internet without even a warning despite "This is a public camera" being turned off (which should warn when the server is publicly accessible).
Works ok on a local network, night mode is fairly poor. No auto switching between day and night mode (that I could find). Remote access possible with ivideon. The app force closes fairly regularly, despite being installed on a factory reset phone. The app developer does not respond to emails, or at lest not mine. Update: I've upped the star rating to 4 as the latest update appears to have stopped the crashes, the app will get 5 stars if we get auto night mode switching according to light levels rather than timed via the plug-in.
Easy to setup, can draw quite some power. Used this for 4 hours straight as a Webcam for my PC. No issues, stable through the whole session. On my huawei P30 pro it draws a significant amount of power. While connected via USB to my pc to load, the battery charge decreased by 30%. Power consumption according to android: 4h / 1371 mAh with default settings. I'm sure this can be changed easily, but don't forget to do so for longer sessions
If you're comfy working with IP addresses, this is *amazing*. With everybody switching to Zoom for Covid-19 remoting, this is a perfect tool in the toolbox. It's not perfect - the default resolution results in high latency and I can't get it to work on Skype for Business, the web-portal it creates doesn't seem to have a place to save settings to the phone, some odd things there... but when it works it works. I am a bit concerned it has an option to run in the background without the notification icon. That seems like it could be used for nefarious ends.
Incredible feature set, and the dev is constantly adding more. Definitely worth it to purchase the full version. I intend to purchase, simply to support this project. I've had the free version for over a year now, and the improvements that been made are truly impressive. Its rare to find an app where the dev is putting this much work into it. A gem.
Great App. I have a feature issue. when the motion sensor is enabled, the sound when triggered always comes from the speaker even when the headphones are plugged in. I want the sound on the source phone to be played through the headphones. The reason is I dont want to disturb everybody at night with loud nouse at the source. Instead, I want to hear it from receiving phone. please add option and ability to have sound played via headphones not just always via speaker of source phonr. Thanks
Excellent app. It does all that you need, providing a fully functional web interview to control most of what you need. The only feature I'm missing is an Slider to control the focus point. I can set focus to manual but I can't seem to choose a focus point directly from the web interface, would be nice to have an slide as for the zoom, for example. In any case, can't help but recommend to install this app in favour of other, more expensive, solutions. My main use is to monitor my 3d printer, for this, it's absolutely perfect, specially when connected to OctoPI
It is one of the simplest apps for this purpose (and also one of the oldest I think). The only problem is that the feed 'randomly' stops showing the videostream. I have it plugged in power, stays at 100% always, disable all possible power saving features. The problem is not the app being killed, but the video just stops, blank canvas. I have the app in 'front'/open always. Any ideas?
Used in conjunction with Ivideon, this is really nice. Can setup multiple cams anywhere you can access wifi or via hotspot. It is a little laggy, but that is to be expected considering the network being used and the method of viewing. My only gripe is that between this app and Ivideon, getting the correct orientation (landscape), I can only get a landscape mirror image and not a true L/R landscape image. I might be missing something, will play w/ it some more. Great app & stream quality!
Congrats to the author. I am a software engineer and from that perspective I think this is one of the best apps I used on my Android phone. I used it to turn old phones into versatile IP cameras and I also used it to take timelapses on my 3D printer. Absolutely amazing! PS: I even ran it on a very (very) old Honeycomb Android Tablet (Iconia A500) and it runs smoothly.
Works like charm. If you have problems, try not to install any plugin for a moment or find out what they really do. Make sure you give the app permission to overlay. While streaming, connect to the same wifi with your laptop. Personally, I have an issue where the screen goes black after the stream starts. Just tap the screen, everything goes back normally. Tested on Samsung Galaxy S8
I really like this app. There are great features like recording motion detection and uploading the video to services like Dropbox. There is also a web interface to change the camera settings and view the video. If you port forward the web interface, you can even change some settings, record a video, or take a photo from anywhere with internet connection. I am using a older phone but the quality still looks good even though it gets warm. My only issue is the exposure drops after a few seconds when I start the server. I wish there was a way to change the exposure settings in the app settings. Also, sometimes some of the setting changed from the web interface do not save for more than a day including exposure. I can't really complain though because the amount of customization settings for this app in the free version trumps a few other apps I have looked at and even a paid app. I see some reviews saying that this app does not work or looks terrible but everyone's millage varies and a super cheap phone is probably not going to look good (or even work at all). The app is free though so try it if you made it this far and I just realized I spent way to long on this review.
The one problem I have with this app is that the stored videos seem to be at a much lower quality than the live stream. I'm using it to catch people vandalizing my property but you can't get good enough video to recognize them. everything else works works very well. Is there more documentation on this app? EDIT: I can get much better quality by selecting ""other viewing methods"" and using ispy or zoneminder to record and set up their motion detection settings. then only use IP webcam only for streaming and adjusting the camera. This appears to reduce the workload on your old cell phone.
