The app works pretty well once it gets going, but sometimes doesn't want to connect. One drawback is that it also seems to cause noticeably quicker battery drawdown so I tend not to use it when I'm unplugged. (It is of course always turned on when using wifi out of the house!) Update: After contacting PureVPN they passed the issue onto support and it wasn't long until the connection sped up and the signal hasn't been dropping. Battery drain isn't as much either. Very pleased with the app!
This app is totally terrible. Not only is the website broken so I can't get the addons I want, but the subscription packages are totally incorrect. Port forwarding is NOT included in most packages and is separate all together, too bad because I would have bought it! Now that I've looked around though, the port forwarding option looks to be total garbage anyways though (you can't allow specific ports, only all or none)! Can't wait to get a refund (IF POSSIBLE)!!
Got offered a trial for 99 cents, wasn't happy with my service, so I went to cancel. You are unable to, either from the app or the website, so I thought that it would be canceled at the end of the trial, like othet services. Nope, now I'm out nearly 60 bucks for the next two week. Not very trustworthy. If it's that hard/confusing to end a subscription, it's easy to imagine our data being easily shared to those, who made it so we needed a VPN
Difficult to cancel 'free trial'-don't fall for the gimmick! I paid for the annual subscription &decided it wasn't for me. It didn't seem simple to access content. Tried to cancel the same night, but there's no simple way to cancel & receive a refund. You can select an option to cancel, but it still charges your account for the month/year you authorized to be charged. In order to get a refund, you submit a support ticket & wait while it's 'Assigning ticket to Technical Support Team'. GARBAGE!
Easy to use, but sometimes requires a force stop to get it running right again. Version 7.05 has more issues. When I connect to a USA server, immediately it connects it wants to auto reconnect, even though a connection is up. If I do not dismiss the notification, I get connected to a local server. Support have been unable to rectify. Now running an older version. Am a paying customer, so just need to put up with it until subscription runs out.
After using this VPN provider for a few days, and in China, I've come to realize it's not as reliable as I thought or hope it would be. There's not exactly just one server that I can consistently rely on day to day, or even hour to hour, for steady or fast connection. I have to try multiple servers before I can usually connect, which does take a few minutes. And the server that's recommended based on my location isn't guaranteed to work either. Whole thing is really a hit-or-miss situation.
Absolute trash. Wasted 40 minutes trying to get (what should be a 2-minute) signup process to work. I've used CyberGhost & IPVanish for years now so no, it's not me. PayPal subscription applies, app does not let you connect saying you have to renew the sub. When you go to renew, you get an error that your invoice has already been processed. And the loop goes on. Also, username/password were never offered - had to resort to "forgot password" to bootleg-make one. Also, they log info ("for quality"
If you are thinking about using this with an Amazon Fire Stick or FireTV, DON'T BUY IT. There is only 1 setting you can control, and Automatic Reconnect is NOT one of them. Scary. Most of the TV apps I try to open, after connecting with PVPN do not deliver any streams. May be good for PCs and phones, but worthless for streaming devices like mine. PureVpn: please don't ask me to email you to "resolve" this behind closed doors. If you reply, do it transparently, so others can see the resolution.
My complaints aren't with the service. The Windows version works fine. However, my experience with the Android app has been rocky. Connection is often lost, and when trying to reconnect, it would stall at "waiting for server reply" and subsequent attempts would fail. Meanwhile, all internet access would be lost. Force Stopping, I eventually found fixed the problem. Since the last update, things have been behaving, although I still lose connection a lot, defeating any security benefits.Improving.
Even after paying for a subscription, the app is sooo full of upselling ads that it feels like you're using a free app. In fact free apps don't have this much ads. On top of that, the VPN actually doesn't work. Every IP identifier service is able to detect my original IP and location. My primary use-case was using the India server for mxplayer and even that doesn't work. I contacted support and that dragged for weeks. Then I asked for a refund and they're like "sorry, too late".
Mobile app is horrible. When I click connect button, it connects for a second and then immediately disconnects. Then one day it suddenly connected on its own, which was good... until I wanted to turn it off. Pressing disconnect button wouldn't turn it off. I ended up deleting the app cache so it signed me out and finally disconnected. I want to say that on the desktop, I find this vpn service to be great, but for mobile it is horrendous. I downloaded a different free vpn that actually works.
Paid for a year and about three months into it the app had nonstop issues with connecting and staying connected. Probably one of the worst. I'd pick a country and it would send me to someplace else. I'd pick A USA city and it'd send me to a different place or a whole different country. Then it'd never stay connected! Nonstop dropping. I cancelled the subscription when my time was up. Never again.
Don't touch them. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but I've just had such a bad experience with them. Their app is unfit for purpose - VPN is incredibly inconsistent and regularly just doesn't work. Requested a refund within the trial timeframe, but I was then charged the full price. Reached out for a refund 3 times. First response contained false information and I've not received a response to my other 2 emails. Poor product, poor service. Avoid. Another update - still no response.
Very limited in service and performance. For example, unable to stream Britbox USA and all suggestions from technical assistance were simplistic and unhelpful. Eventually found a free VPN that is so much better.
I would not recommend it at all for countries with restricted internet. It is not even able to connect to the server to log in. None of the manual configs work. I really regret my purchase. It was a bad experience. 😐
Crash on Tablets and no solution provided. Also the app shows up membership experied after auto renewal charged to Google Pay with no money refunded. Make sure to disable the autorenewal from day one.
I was excited to see that the ESIM section although a little let down that it's an extra charge beyond regular subscription. But it's fair either way. Comes with dark web Monitoring, but the part I like the most is you can get credits by referring friends so potentially save the subscription payments. otherwise so far so good. I'll update if I run into anything troubling.
The 7-day trail is very misleading. On the 8th day I got changed a full of their service. Not a month, A FULL YEAR. Now they are not honoring their supposed "31 stress free, no questions asked" return policy. I feel scammed.
I don't usually leave a review but i wouldn't recommend this vpn service to anyways just paid my subscription and keeps telling me to renew my subscription has happened before I feel like I've been scammed
customer service very poor! been in contact to resolve an issue and told app store can deal with it by what i assume to be a bot.
