Does not allow my two Sony speakers to sync up, despite telling me it is the only way, to do so. Wow, Sony. and Music Center, just, wow. I attempted to do so earlier in the day, for me hours later after trying to notify me of a needed update...amd after taking an incredibly long time to update...the sync/party function still does not work. Did I say, wow Sony and Music Center...let me say it again and, pun intended, sound like a broken record or scratched CD. Yes, I am that old. 🤣🤣🤣🤬
Overall, I really like the app! If i could suggest a change that would essentially make this the perfect app in my opinion: 1. Currently, when you select "genre" it only lists all the tracks in that genre. I tend to brows by genre a lot so it would be so nice to be able to tap the genre button and have the option of browsing albums, or artists within the genre instead of all the tracks which is very cluttered to navigate. Hopefully you can take this into considerstion for a future update:)
Well Sony, new phone and the app can't find the licence agreement and I can't skip that step. So, I'm 'locked out' until you fix this. I don't care about your license, I just want to change the equalizer. In your insistance to present the agreement in real-time, you are letting customers down. Either ensure 100% uptime of the licensing server, or use a stored copy.
Opened this app on a new phone because I got a speaker to use for work. The app seemingly refuses to acknowledge that I've added the speaker, automatically or manually, and the troubleshooting link doesn't work. it just keeps telling me to check my internet connection, doesn't matter if my VPN is active or disconnected. Aside from that, it probably works how it did a year ago, which was good, but I can't truly tell until this speaker connects.
overall the app sort of works as expected, a more accurate depiction is when you get it to work, it's great, but otherwise it's a painful process to get multiple speakers connected, in sync, and stay that way. We often experience one speaker will connect and the others won't or 2 speakers connect but the third won't. Additionally, the app is very slow/delayed (2-5 minutes) to load, connect, or respond when connecting or configuring settings. This happens on both Android and iPhone versions.
This app is great and everything I just wish you can do a little more with the XB-41 and XB-31's lights. However, I have this huge problem with this app. When I connect any other bluetooth device to my phone, it disables the sound completely on my bluetooth device for some reason. Even on my wired earbuds sometimes as well. I don't know why it is but I've made sure it was this app that was causing it. I have to the go on my bluetooth settings and turn off media sound and back on for it to work.
I really like the app and support Sony but I would like you to strongly consider my two suggestions: 1. Automatically launch into main device's media files instead of having to click on "This device, phone, etc." We have horse the ability to access other device's manually. I want to be able to tap on the Sony Music Center app, and have it go right into my music. 2. Please develop a Dark Theme. I love the app but I don't like the white screen draining the battery. Thanks!! Nice tech fillled app!
It works great for all that I would want in an app to control my receiver save for one important thing. When I want to be "remote" I would like the ability to choose bluetooth as an input and this isnt an option to control my str-dn1080. Seems like a very obvious thing to have control of when not near or even "line of sight" with an IR remote. Huge oversight and therefore mostly useless.
This used to be great. Now when i change apps to choose music, if i go back to this app, it disconnects from the device. When selecting the device to reconnect, the brief disconnect causes music apps to pause the music. It's extremely frustrating! And I'm using an Xperia with two different Sony devices. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still get the same problem.
It's fine, good even, but the audio is not as customizable for the environment as I'd like. The "equalizer" future is like a car radio but if I have to provide quality sound to a room or rooms it's just not that qualified as other apps do better for sounds equalization for loud or unusual environments. The equalized sound is quality, in a quiet environment, but in a loud or irregular environment it just doesn't make the cut. No use using this app in those situations the sound gets drowned out.
Metadata doesn't download. So if you're using a micro sd card. Or any other external storage to play music., more often than not it won't pull any Metadata. So you might not see artist, song name, album artwork, or you might just see a bunch of "unknown artist" songs. For those of us playing off of more than 10 gigs of music in stored form ...that's a big problem . Other than that it's ok.
This app used to be great. There was an update about a year ago and ever since then it will not connect via Bluetooth. I reached out to Sony support several times and they were no help. They even sent me up to tier two support. They were no help either. I also tried different phones It's not the phones it's the app. I have to manually connect every time. I'm actually thinking since this app doesn't work well anymore I'm just going to remove it from my phone and just use another music app.
Overcomplicated, probably mining music preference data. Why is the app I need to use to manage the settings of my headphones a "music center"? I just need to change the bass levels on my headphones. I DO NOT need an app to interact or be a shortcut to my music player. Who is gonna think that the Sony Headphones App is where I should go to start playing music??? If I'm buying headphones, it's a pretty good bet I already have a music app.
No UI customizations. Direct playback of genre, artist, album is impossible without needing to create a playlist or add to an ongoing play queue or to play it next - anything but fundamental Play; in order to be able to initiate any playback at all, there is a need to pick a track to play and only then to return to whatever one wanted to play- as very awkward and unnecessary limitation. If that is not enough, it is unclear how to delete a play queue to create another, if it is possible at all.
This works great for playing music through a Bluetooth device, or a phone. But I can't get it to work with wired headphones, the pair that came with my phone. I can get YouTube and other apps to play through my wired headphones. Pretty disappointing, I'll have to find another music player just to use wired headphones occasionally. Since Bluetooth works great, and there are wonderful Bluetooth wireless ear buds now, I'd love to switch to that option, but alas I am also poor.
I like the app but the reason for the giving it two out of five stars is because I am tired the app skipping to the next song or previous song if I tap slightly outside of the volume buttons with phone in landscape. There have been many updates and none have addressed it and I've asked for it to be addressed. I also would like for the buttons to be bigger for volume, track skip and play buttons because I use this app to connect to my head unit in my car.
I loaded both apps as recommend by reviews. I can get the USB to load and scroll but can not get the file to play. They are in the correct file format. This is a pain to scroll through on the stereo it self. This is one reason why I bought this unit because of the app. Also the app shuts down my stereo and did a total rest to the stereo. I had the speakers and EQ set perfect. This app needs refining or updates. I am kinda wishing I bought a JVC but to late.
Couldn't get it to work. Tryin to link it to a Sony amp to access music on my home network. Simply does not connect via wifi. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, confirm using latest device firmware etc. From online searches on this issue, seems it is a rampant issue with this app and their amp. Used to work but an update destroyed something and it has become an exercise in frustration trying to configure to work the way it used to. Sorry, cannot recommend.
I have GTK-XB5. Terrible! The speaker connects fine but then hangs my Motorola phone entirely. I gotta wait to turn it off and do it TWICE b/c Sony's software/firmware is so lousy. A virus couldn't do a more thorough job! Phone connects and plays Bluetooth just fine on other devices. Whether I use the app or not I have the same issue so I know it's on the Sony side. I thought their app might have some updates to install to solve the problem. But No. Corp website offers nada cept the app. Dummies
All of the sudden when I use it in my Jeep GC, it won't allow me to go forward to the next track or back to the previous track. It only goes 2 songs ahead and 2 songs back. I have an appointment at a dealership to check internals for a radio update, but other than that I have no idea why or what to do. I've reset the Bluetooth in my phone and car, unpaired it, uninstall/reinstall the app, but nothing is correcting the issue. Any suggestions?
