Ok, so the biggest problem is that I can't even make an account, and when I add my Spotify info to transfer it, the Spotify kids. It's said not available even though I used it a moment ago, and now it's telling me to pay. It is the worst. The app is always telling me to pay more, but why am I paying more even though I don't have a account , and I recommend getting a different kid friendly app or just using the regular Spotify app because this is just ridiculous. DEFINITELY A ZERO IF I COULD!!!!!
Ok listen, this was a good idea, but it failed. Why? Here are my reasons 1. You can't shuffle music. Unless you want to play the same songs, its really annoying. 2. You can only make 1 playlist on the app yourself. And that goes back to one, you listen to it over and over 3. Finally, there is limited selection. Example: They only have 5 HTTYD songs, and the songs, except for 2 or 3 of them in the WHOLE saga, have words, which may I point out they are appropriate. Unlike some songs they have...
Terrible. Songs are extremely limited, no customization options (like your kids building themselves a playlist), no looping, no shuffling, frequent bugs... you get the point. The app itself is clunky and inconvenient. The songs are grouped into playlists, and the search results are weird and random. It doesn't even have the new songs in Disney movies. Just go to the OG and monitor your kid's accounts instead of dealing with Spotify Kids.
Initally, the app seemed decent, if a little limited in songs, I had chalked this up to the age range for my kids. Annoying that it only hooked up to speakers via Bluetooth, but I could work with that. Now, however, the app keeps randomly stopping mid song. I will get 1 or 2 full songs then it will randomly cut out part way through the next song. This is especially frustrating when it happens hooked to my car speakers, as I am usually driving so cannot fix the issue easily.
Impressively bad. Good concept, but that's it. Glitchy. Search is not intuitive and other songs by the artist started playing automatically (searched song title). I received a couple "whoops something went wrong" messages, and a "unexpected error", then "song not available now" before it suddenly worked and I could add the searched for song to my 8 yr old's "favorites" for her. I was expecting something she could navigate on her own, but this is just going to frustrate kids and adults.
My biggest complaint with this app is that it doesn't have podcasts. There are thosands of podcasts made specifically for children and you can't access any of them through this app. What I want is just Spotify, but with age appropriate content. Like an alternate profile I can switch to. This isn't that. To top it off, sometimes it doesn't work at all.
This app feels like someone developed it over the weekend five years ago and then forgot about it. It takes forever to load, won't connect to smart home devices, works terribly with Android Auto, and doesn't even have a shuffle button (so not only do I have to listen to children's songs on repeat, I have to listen to them in the exact same order every time). I use it to avoid messing up my personal Spotify algorithm, but AT WHAT COST
After setting up the app, I am told "Oops something went wrong" and nothing will load on the home screen, even though I'm connected to wifi. We paid money for the Family Spotify Plan, so no offense, we should be able to access what we have paid for!!! I will not change my rating, as much as I like Spotify, until this issue is fixed.
I wish they would put in just a little more effort into this. App crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME you try to log into the grown ups section. I have yet to successfully log into it. Not once. Kind of hard to manage kid's account if you can't even access it. Kind of surprised it doesn't have the ability to cast to a smart speaker, either. Seemed like should've been a given.
It's a good app in theory but poorly executed, at least as of now. There is no way to customize the home screen (my 6 year old doesn't want stuff about teeth brushing jingles, pocoyo, and cocomellon), the shared playlists never show up correctly, there is no shuffle or repeat, and podcasts can't be added to shared playlists. Super disappointed honestly.
Severely limited. Paid for the family plan and installed the kids app. Most of the songs my daughter wants to listen to are not available directly, I have to share as a playlist, they are inoffensive songs from musicals. There are no album views. Worst of all, to download you have to favourite each song individually to download. Additionally despite it supposedly being free of explicit lyrics, there are songs with swear words.
It's a great app in general... but there could be a lot of improvements. It should have a shuffle and repeat feature, and I think the biggest feature would be Spotify Kids on PC, not just on mobile. Also, it should be more clear about how the shared playlists work because it took me a year to realize the shared playlists need to be public for it to show up on Spotify Kids. The app definitely needs Spotify Connect+casting, and having lyrics so kids can sing along. Please make Spotify Kids better!
It's a good start. I like that I can have a kid friendly app for the kids. Browsing is super easy for them. But some key features could still be added like a sleep timer, volume control, and another "age" bracket to have access to more adult songs. (To keep them off the full app with podcasts and video clips). I do like the ability to share playlists with them.
The idea of this app is great, but the reality is very poor with two glaring errors. The app doesn't have Spotify connect or casting enabled, this means that you can't listen to music on a smart speaker or home theatre system. The content available is extremely limited to the point of being useless. As an example, searching for frozen brings up several songs from the movie and numerous soundtracks for sequels and variants in other languages. But the main frozen soundtrack is not available!
Almost has potential but then falls short. The most glaring issue that I can't understand, is that when your kid is playing a song and they click the Bluetooth button, it gives them direct access into your settings!! An older, savvy kid could then easily get into your parental controls and change them (if they wanted to), completely defeating the point. A younger kid might just mash some settings on your device, also not ideal. This OBVIOUSLY should be passcoded to protect your device settings!
I am now 13, but when i was around 10 i used this app. It was easy to use, but i found it incredibly childish, even though there was a setting for "older kids" There definatly weren't enough songs on the app. After about 2 days of using it, I went to YouTube to listen to music until i turned 13. It was unpleasant to have to use Spotify Kids at such an old age. Even the way the app looked, it was too babyish for a tween kid to use. At least make another setting for older kids or add more songs!!
A good idea in theory but so limited that my 7 year old is frustrated by the lack of choice. For example, a pre-made Calvin Harris playlist but no Steps, even on search?! And she can't access our family playlist, even though it's obviously full of age appropriate songs. Would have liked to see a fuller version just with inappropriate content blocked. Will be downloading the full version for her instead.
I can't even create an account, but after like 5 years I finally did, and there's a lot of errors. Every time I play a music playlist, some of the music won't play. When I find my favorite music, it's not there. Do not install this music playlist app, because it won't find the music for you, sometimes it won't let you create an account.
I love more techno and alternative music(eg phonk)- but all I got from the app was pop and lullaby renditions of rap. The app "is for 1-12 year olds" even though it has songs for 8 and under year olds. Also, the search option is weird when you search a song up. If you search 'at the speed of light' (famous gd song by dimrain47) you end up with "K-Pop Party."🥀 Nearly Immediately uninstalled.😭 Absolutely USLESS!
I honestly only installed this app so I could listen to my favorite songs offline (and NOT see any inappropriate stuff...), and then it hit me: YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY OF MY FAVORITE SONGS! HONESTLY NOW I WOULD RATHER PAY FOR PREMIUM IN MY CURRENT MUSIC APP 😭😭😭 And, WHY do you have to PAY to use the app AT ALL? THAT'S RUBBISH! I get yall need money and all, but needing to pay to use the app at all is pathetic. I suggest only needing to pay for if you want more than one kids account.
