✨ Awareness points: Stepping into the Present

This application encourages users to be more aware of their physical activity. By tracking steps and distance, it prompts a focus on the present moment—each step taken, each breath inhaled, contributing to the journey. This awareness can extend beyond the walk itself, fostering a greater appreciation for the body's capabilities and the surrounding environment.

Mindful Movement Tracking

The app's step counter serves as a gentle reminder to stay present and engaged with your body. Pay attention to how your body feels, adjust your pace, and notice the subtle changes in your surroundings during each walk.

⏳ Present moments: Grounding Through Movement

Walking, inherently, is a grounding activity. The rhythmic motion, the connection with the earth, and the sensory input from the environment all contribute to a sense of presence. This application, by quantifying and visualizing these walks, can amplify this effect. The data visualization (if thoughtfully designed) can allow users to reflect on past walks, evoking a sense of accomplishment and connection to those moments.

  • Consider using walks as opportunities for mindful breathing exercises.
  • Try focusing on your senses – the sights, sounds, and smells around you – rather than dwelling on thoughts.

🌿 Conscious features: Intention Setting and Reflection

The application can facilitate conscious choices around health and well-being. By allowing users to set goals and track progress, it encourages intentional action. However, it's important that the app does not foster an obsessive or overly critical relationship with one's body or activity level.

Balancing Tracking with Acceptance

While tracking can be helpful, it's crucial to avoid using the data to judge or shame oneself. Instead, view the information as a tool for understanding patterns and making informed choices.

🧭 Mindful aspects: Promoting Self-Compassion

A truly mindful walking app should incorporate elements that encourage self-compassion. This could include affirmations, guided meditations focused on body positivity, or features that emphasize the joy of movement over purely quantitative results. Such additions can transform the app from a mere tracking tool into a companion for mindful living.

Mindful Element Potential Implementation
Affirmations Display positive messages about body acceptance and self-care.
Guided Meditations Offer audio guides for walking meditations that focus on breath and presence.

🎯 Intentional design: Avoiding Over-Attachment

Developers need to carefully consider the potential for users to become overly attached to the app and its data. Design choices should prioritize well-being over mere gamification or achievement. Reminders to take breaks, disconnect, and engage with the real world can help prevent users from becoming overly reliant on the app.

Potential Benefits:
  • Increased awareness of physical activity.
  • Enhanced sense of presence during walks.
Potential Drawbacks:
  • Risk of fostering obsessive behavior.
  • Over-reliance on data for self-worth.

Be careful with bank account! i loved the free app, but when ads became a deterrent I purchased a month's trial, since it was only 4.99. I figured I would try it for a month and see from there. Problem is, the money continued to come out automatically every month and I couldn't figure out how to get it to stop. After deep searching I found out, but I'm very disappointed with the dishonest way of taking it our of my account.

This app is motivating in the sense that it tracks, records, and archives your walks and shows how many miles you've walked since day one, as well as calories burned. However, there are three workout levels - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. If you switch levels, the app treats it as a whole different progress report. The calorie counts are high and inconsistent. I walked 1.04 miles in 30 minutes one day and 1.11 in 35 minutes another and it said I burned more calories on the 30 min day.

I don't really see much difference in the pro version vs. the free one. I like that the workouts are timed, but I would have rated this higher if the app continued to record the distance & calories burned if/when you go past the time limit for the workout. I like seeing my progress with the current set-up, but it isn't truly accurate if it doesnt give the option to continue recording the route beyond the pre-chosen time period.
