YouTube Kids

I have the app on both my phone and our smart TV. It is a great collection of kids videos for all ages. I do have a suggestions. For phone, it is simple to slide the bar back to the beginning, but I'd like to see a restart or start from beginning button for TV app. For phone, I'm able to subscribe to channels but not while on the TV app. For TV app, if the highlight could be another color or bolder, it would be easier to locate.

Decent, but needs some improvement. It's nice to have more control of what my child sees on YouTube. The parental controls are good. The video controls are lacking; rewind is a 10 second rewind, there is no option to start from the beginning. If you go back to watch a video that you had already watched halfway,you have to watch from the last watched part. The select highlight on the tv is white on pale blue, it is not easy to see.

Love this for my 4 and 8 year olds. Has settings for parental controls (time limits, video types, history, ect) and I can easily set a pass code and timer. Also, you sign in with your YouTube account, but nothing on there goes into your history. Great app. Would like for there to be a better way to block videos or categories of videos. And to show only certain videos. If you have kids ages 4 to 10 this app is perfect.

So easy to use! My 2 year old is able to work it by himself! I love how I am able to block certain shows and channels I don't want him watching and it shows only age appropriate videos! You can also view what they have been watching. I also live how there are very very few apps! A lot less than regular YouTube. Every ad that does pop up is completely age appropriate, usually toys or kids shows. We probably only get 1 ad every other day or so.

My little one loves YouTube Kids! She's nearly 2 and can navigate the app pretty easily. The videos are age appropriate. She loves the songs and videos! I've been noticing that she's learning a lot from the app, which is great! She sings along with the songs! Her favorite is Wheels on the Bus! For example there's a lot of videos showing things like what firemen and women do, etc. So she won't be afraid of helpful people who might look scary in uniform to such a small child. Highly recommend!

Perfect app. Intuitive to use for little kids, and super easy to manage for parents. I was having so much trouble getting Amazon kids to work for my 2yr old for long car trips, then i found this. I just pin the app and he can easily navigate without getting stuck. I use the mode where I choose exactly what videos are available, add his favorite channels, e.g. super simple songs, and he's set without my worrying at all about what he might find.

Too simple, all I want to do is subscribe to a handfull of channels and let that be the YouTube they can watch. I'm trying to choose only educational channels and documentaries which doesn't seem at all possible. Ideally, I'd like it to look like YouTube normally, but it shows "kid" and educational content only. I feel like some of these suggested videos are cheap pacifiers, not enriching.

Non-intuitive interfaces, bouncing between URLs and the app. And gosh forbid, if you forget your password while you are already logged into the app. Good luck. Apparently I have to go between the app and the website to try to figure out how to reconnect things, including the television. And the parental controls are almost worthless. If your kids are smart enough to search they can get to whatever they want. Especially YouTubers that waste their lives away setting for examples.

Unable to enter my birth year on lock screen. When I press on the data entry points, no keypad appears, so I can't enter my birth year. Unable to activate app. Edit: it turns out that the data entry keypad is only visible in landscape mode. This is a terrible user interface, there is no clue that there is something off screen in portrait mode which is the way 90% of people will use it on their phone. Upgrading to two stars.

Frustrated. I never had an account until today. My little is 2, and haven't had any issues. New issue, even after update, I don't know how it started, but I made an account. Now I can't cast to our Chromecast. It started on her tablet. I signed into her account from my phone (to see if it was just the device's issue), but now I can't cast from my phone either! So frustrating. I was able to cast just fine pre-profile. No wifi issues.

Like that so far, it only shows appropriate videos for kids. Not user-friendly with swipe controls. Trying to exit app on my pixel 8 is a nightmare. I usually just end up scrubbing the timeline of the player or returning to the pick a video screen. Also, you can't download hand-picked videos. The app will download what it wants when It wants with no way to change it.

Many channels and videos on the platform are not suitable for kids. There is no option to view the watch history, which makes parental monitoring difficult. Additionally, the home page is filled with suggested videos—many of which are inappropriate—instead of showing only the channels I have subscribed to. This makes the experience unsafe and frustrating for parents.

it's not bad but if you're over the age of 9 years old you're going to find this extremely boring app because number one results of different language videos. even if you want English there's a lot of weird videos and some inappropriate ones but it's not bad. in most channels you can't even go on them it's only like the name. doesn't have that many good videos or YouTubers on it. but it's it's okay you can deal with it.

Severely lacking in features. I'm in USA and after only a few clicks my kid is seeing non English videos. The only option is choosing approved content only, and that setting is severely lacking. you would think the app for kids works be better than the adult YouTube, but I guess less advertisement dollars means less development for this app.

it's nice but here are some youtubers that are friendly or at least have some friendly videos like ItsNeena, but yet they're not to be seen. Also, some YouTubers on here don't even have channels! Just videos! Plus, most of the channels when you scroll the same videos just keep on showing up instead of new videos and it keeps going until you just leave, from my experience. But I think it's a nice app for kids.

this is a great app not only for kids but also people who wish to reduce their screen time it has many features to control what content you're exposing yourself to, how long you've been using the app and also let's you set timers for how long you wish to use it. personally it has made my day more organised by freeing me from addiction and the app also promotes age groups of over 20. don't hesitate and think if it's un cool or childish you can catch on the latest trends while still staying chill

Given up on this app - it allows far too much brain rot for children, and the 'approval mode' (which you can only enable via the web version!) only allows a pre-set group of channels to choose from, and no ability for a parent to search to add content. A real shame, as there is helpful content for kids on YT, it's just in a swamp of content that does young minds no good - and it's a constant battle using the age range mode and trying to block the brain rot - as YT eventually suggests it again

Great with Approved content only. The app is rubbish if you set it to an age group as it still recommends absolute rubbish. It also keeps changing language if you are trying a bilingual child not great. But I worked out if you add channels and videos approved only and turn off search and suggestions then it is perfect. Now I have a perfectly curated list of appeoved content in Spanish for my 4 year old.

Even if you set to only watch certain channels or videos, random channels will pop up without approval. A few times I've had to specifically block a channel because videos for it kept being suggested and it was nearly the only channel that came up on the home screen.

There're some pros and cons. The pros are the videos are nice and great and there is no Wifi issues. The cons are the parent controls are easy, if you kid is smart then they can watch what their parents don't want them to watch, but otherwise it's fine. nothing bad.
